The Livingston Parish economy consists of
five
"wealth producing" industries that drive the economy and produce wealth by capturing sales outside the area: metal fabrication, construction materials and services, fire equipment, wood & lumber products and miscellaneous manufacturing.
While much of the growth is in services, government, finance-insurance-real estate and construction stems from rapid population growth (at four times the national growth rate), the parish has broadened its economic base considerably by attracting new manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers during the 1990’s.
These and additional statistics on the Livingston Parish economy can be found in the
Economic Base Analysis, a brief 10-page report on the changes in the economy over the last decade done by Taimerica Management Company.
