Recently Bercen, Inc. a state-of-the –art producer of quality special chemicals related to the paper industry, relocated their corporate headquarters and R&D facilities from Rhode Island to Livingston Parish.

Situated between Louisiana State University (LSU) and Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) Livingston Parish provides ready access to faculty, students and facilities for those companies seeking strategic partnerships with academic resources. LSU’s Business & Technology Center and the System Research & Technology Foundation offer unique opportunities along with the newly opened Student Incubator Center at the nearby LSU South Research Park.

The State of Louisiana offers innovative and aggressive programs to aid Research & Development activities. Such programs include:

Research & Development Tax Credit Program: Provides a tax credit up to 40% to existing businesses with operating facilities in Louisiana to establish or continue research and development activities within the state.

Technology Commercialization Credit and Jobs Program: Provides a 40% refundable tax credit for companies that invest in the commercialization of Louisiana technology and a 6% payroll rebate for the creation new, direct jobs.
